Snowcat & Vehicle Mechanic (Big Sky, MT)

Description: 
Mountain Operations is seeking candidates that have the desire to learn all aspect of snowcat and vehicle maintenance and repair. Gained knowledge will include all automotive and snowcat systems such as engine, transmission, axle, brake and electronics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and vehicle inspections on pick-up trucks, and small engines. Experience with welding oxy-acetylene, and fabrication is a plus.  Full-time/Year-round position, including Health, Dental and Vision Insurance options.  Shifts Available: Four 10-hour shifts with start time at 7:00 am.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work independently and as a team servicing a fleet of vehicles.

  • Candidate must have the ability to operate, or train on large machinery to include, but not limited to, snowcats, forklifts, loaders, garbage trucks, and plow trucks.

  • Previous diagnostic and repair experience is preferred.

  • Heavy lifting and the ability to work outdoors in cold temperatures is required!

  • Training can be done on job with preference for heavy equipment operation experience

  • Small engine knowledge is a great start!

  • Mechanically inclined with initiative to learn

  • A qualified Snowcat Mechanic must have 2 years of experience in snowcat maintenance and repair.

  • Must also have knowledge of gas and diesel engines, hydraulic and hydro-static systems.

Vehicle Maintenance Manager (North Lake Tahoe, CA)

We are seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Manager that possess a passion for our sports, business, customers and employees.  Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations, the Vehicle Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe operation of the Vehicle Maintenance Shop and equipment.

Responsibilities
(include but are not limited to):

  • Oversee the maintenance of all fleet vehicles, snowmobiles, heavy equipment, snow cats, trucks, atv’s

  • Develop annual budget and work within those parameters.

  • Oversee staffing needs including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluation employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

  • Train staff of all safety procedures, as well as assist with training for specialty maintenance certificates.

  • Manages employees to ensure performance and cost focus efficiency across the department.

  • Discipline staff as needed to maintain safe working conditions.

  • Set daily and weekly schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess strong communication and organization skills, and communicate effectively with other departments.

  • Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment.

  • Ability to manage, track and forecast spending.

  • Must have previous mechanical experience

Vehicle Mechanic 3 (Bend, OR)

Job Description: This full time/year round position is responsible for keeping all Mt. Bachelor vehicles in good, safe, working order. 

Additional Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and inspect all of Mt. Bachelor’s vehicles (including but not limited to snow mobiles, heavy equipment and buses)

  • Repair and or replace any broken parts & perform routine maintenance at specified intervals 

  • Fill out paper work so necessary parts can be ordered

  • Fill out paper work showing what work was done

  • Help keep the shop in a good clean safe working state

  • Help anybody who walks into the shop who looks like they need help

  • Welding and fabrication of parts

  • Build hydraulic hoses

  • Repair electrical wiring as needed

  • Retrieve broken down vehicles as necessary 

  • Help with snow removal in the parking lots and around buildings using plow equipment and snow cats

  • Help with Air Link when necessary and any other emergency needs

Qualifications:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Graduate of a technical program with at least 2 years in a ski resort based mechanic shop preferred.

  • Must possess current and valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.

  • Canidates must be able to work in warm and cold environments in and out of the shop with minimal supervision.  

  • Must have a strong understanding of electronics, hydraulics and engine mechanics.

  • Experience working on snow cats helpful.  

  • Must be able to use hands in tight and awkward positions.  

  • Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs.

  • The ability to weld and a welding certificate considered a plus.
